Thank you very much
I congratulate the panelists and UNESCO for the opportunity of this conference in Naples, Italy was the first country to recognize the Independence of the Government of Angola, after 27 years of conflict, we are living in Peace for 21 years.
To think about Peace is to build the Nation in Unity and it is undoubtedly with culture that the National entity is identified.
We have just held the 3rd edition of the Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace and Non-Violence. This event is a partnership between the Government of Angola, UNA and UNESCO, with various themes with the aim of consolidating exchanges of experience on aspects linked to concerns about the consolidation of political processes and, on the other hand, as an instrument for promoting the culture of peace through various themes of dialogue.
And figures who exert influence on the peace process have the opportunity, through cultural diplomacy and international exchange, to support the construction of lasting peace as an image of stability and progress.
The protection of cultural assets is very important to us. Cuito Canavale and Okuvango are areas that were previously under government action and are being transformed into historical and artistic monuments.
The country has been devastated and today cities like Mbanza Congo and Menongue have become places of true history, cultural and natural in South West Africa, especially in Southern Africa, which can now be turned into regional heritage sites, but we continue to see the destruction of historical sites and the increase in conflicts.
We are living through a crisis which, together with the climate crisis, requires us to respond to interdependent priorities and challenges.
Food and nutrition security, assistance and the preservation of indigenous peoples’ eating habits, education and the protection of peoples’ culture.
We thank the Municipality of Naples for becoming a good example of cooperation and we are ready to collaborate with all the authorities to strengthen the culture of peace and the preservation of identity so that Africa and the peoples in conflict can benefit from the stability that peace can bring to the progress of peoples.
